What does courage mean to you?
“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.”
―
Join me for the next Life Notes writing workshop as we explore the idea of courage. In today's world, we are called on to practice courage in support of ourselves and the values we believe in, and in support of others. But courage is easier to talk about than to live. What is your relationship with courage?
During our workshop, we will work together through several short writing exercises, practicing our exploratory writing techniques, building our writing and reflecting muscles in a spirit of curiosity and compassion. We will leave with a better understanding of courage in our lives and with tools to solidify and enhance our writing practice so it can continue to be a supportive gift for our self-care and growth.
So bring your notebook and pen, your curiosity and kindness, and let's explore together!

02.
Observe and discover
Take notice of new insights by looking at both the process (how you write) and the content (what you write) of your Life Notes.

03.
Take informed action
Use your Life Notes to learn more about yourself and your place in the world and how you can move towards peace and vitality.
Who am I?
What a big question!
I am Niamh Bohane and I am the creator of Life Notes.
Having been a writer and journal-keeper most of my life, I was lucky to be granted the opportunity to undertake a master's degree in creative writing at the University of Limerick, under the guidance of wonderful teachers such as novelists Joseph O' Connor, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and Donal Ryan, and the poet Mary O' Malley.
Following this, I had the great privilege to facilitate writing workshops with Limerick Mental Health Association for a number of years. I trained and worked as a story exchange facilitator with Narrative 4 Ireland, an organisation that uses story-telling as an empathy-building tool.
I also spent seventeen years practicing medicine, nine of them as a GP, until I left this work due to burnout in 2019.
Writing and words have supported and guided me through the best and worst of times. The subtle power of exploratory writing exercises never fails to surprise me and I am delighted to be able to share this magic with you. My workshops and courses have been informed and inspired by the work of Gillie Bolton, Rita Charon, David Denborough, James Pennebaker, Brené Brown, Tristine Rainer and Marion Milner. If you are interested in this area, I'd encourage you to seek out their extensive writings and research.
Beyond the page, I am a mum to two sport and comic-loving boys who keep me laughing and shouting in equal measure, as well as being a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, singer, dancer, gardener, among the many other roles we all juggle.
I can't wait to meet you on your journey of discovery to answer the question "Who am I?", with the guidance of your Life Notes.
